Dark skin types have a thicker stratum corneum with an amalgamation of dead skin cells on the surface, which is responsible for dull complexion. The skin works like a reflective mirror: surface irregularities (presence of squamae on very dry skin or excess sebum on oily skin) upset the even diffusion of light. Dark skin types thus lose their golden-hued luminosity.
And yet, these skin types are delicate and fragile, extremely reactive to environmental factors. Adapting to the sun when exposed to a temperate climate, changes in season, differences in temperature and lack of humidity, they become immediately dehydrated and dry, gray-toned and even more reactive.
